All about CrossCountry
Covering around 1,500 route miles and calling at over 100 stations - stretching from Aberdeen to Penzance, and from Stansted to Cardiff - CrossCountry is the most extensive rail network in the UK. Our services combine routes that used to be part of Virgin CrossCountry along with the Cardiff-Birmingham-Nottingham, and Birmingham-Leicester-Stansted services previously operated by Central Trains.
These are exciting times for us, and we’re not standing still. Here are just some of the improvements we’ll be bringing to CrossCountry services : over the next two years.
- 35 per cent more seats on evening peak services on key routes by June 2009
- reintroducing the popular High Speed Trains to provide 550 seat trains on busy services
- radical improvements in ticketing and reservation booking, including home printing of tickets and tickets by mobile phone, with discounted tickets available closer to point of travel
- additional services providing more journey opportunities between major destinations
- additional late evening services to and from Stansted Airport
- introducing at-seat catering for all passengers
- investment in improved rolling stock, with all other trains refurbished to the standard of the popular Voyagers
- Wi-Fi in all Voyagers and High Speed Trains
- more accessible staff
